Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a parenting program that supports healthy child development and family well-being. PAT is available to Sheboygan County parents of a child birth-three years old. PAT recognizes that parents are their child’s first teacher and children are born to learn and succeed.Services take place in the home, the most influential environment in a child’s growth and development. PAT is relationship-based because parents experience a trusting relationship and with their Parent Educator and the program is customized for individual family needs. The Literacy Council is an adult tutoring program serving adults who would like to improve their basic literacy skills, and those who would like to learn to speak, read, and write English. Students are matched with volunteer tutors who have been trained to assist students with meeting their individual literacy goals. The student and tutor meet at mutually agreeable 123 times and places (public libraries are often chosen as meeting places). Literacy Council is always welcoming volunteers interested in becoming tutors. The more tutors, the more students we can serve!
